Desiccant Dehumidifiers for Drying Documents and Books

Also known as desiccant driers, these are perfect for drying out books, folders, files and other documents. They’re also useful for removing general mildew and condensation.

They operate at lower temperatures and reduce humidity to much lower levels than other types of dehumidifier, as well as being more environmentally friendly.

Desiccant dehumidifiers have the advantage of being able, in many cases, to dry out large quantities of books and documents while still being left in place, even if they have been completely saturated. In addition, unlike other restoration companies, we can even give you the hands-on care of regular revisits to turn and dry individual pages of precious documents in situ.

If more suitable, we also use a vacuum freeze drying approach, particularly with valuable books, where desiccant drying may affect the quality of the binding.

Once documents or books have been dried, we also use cleaning techniques, if required, to remove any dirt or mould.
